Verse 13

This morning I was listening to a Christian book while I ran.  The author was talking about how as parents we have to learn to listen to our children, and as believers we have to learn to listen to God.  He said people are always asking how to discern God's will in major life decisions, and part of the answer is to practice listening to Him in the everyday decisions.
I don't take the time to listen to God in the daily things.  I simply rely on my own knowledge and common sense.  While those things are gifts that God has given me to use, I also want to remember that I have the Holy Spirit to guide me.  I want to practice listening to God and knowing His will daily.

Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.

On a side note, earlier today there was a devastating typhoon in Saipan.  A friend from college is living there with her husband and two small children.  They are safe, but lost their home and most belongings.  She says there is no electricity and water on the island.  Please pray for their safety, immediate needs, and peace.

  5. “For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh,”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

With sin being increasingly tolerated, it can make me so scared to send our kids out into the world...but this verse reminds me that God's gift of Jesus's death and then resurrection is always ALWAYS more powerful than the flesh's powerful opposition to the Spirit.

  6. So I missed last time; I'll post my next 3 Galatians verses. Taken together, there will be 6, one for each chapter, and they tell the story of the book of Galatians.

"We know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified." Galatians 2:16

"Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith." Galatians 3:24

"And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, 'Abba! Father!'" Galatians 4:6

    Compassionate Hearts
    Kindness
    Humility
    Meekness and
    Patience,
bearing with one another, FORGIVING each other; as the LORD has forgiven you, so you must also forgive. And above all these, put on LOVE, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
