This time I'm going with a verse that's been on my list for a while, but I keep avoiding it. Maybe because I don't want to be reminded of my sin? Eesh.
Ephesians 4:29 NIV
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:32, NIV
ReplyDeleteThis is the reminder that I need right now -- no more excuses -- when I don't do what I know I should do -- it is SIN
ReplyDelete"Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it" Jame 4:17 NLT
Yours o Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; yours is the dominion, o Lord, and you exalt yourself as head over all.
ReplyDelete1 chronicles 29:11
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." -Psalm 46:1 ESV
ReplyDeleteI have decided to commit a passage in Romans to memory titled in my Bible as 'markers of a true Christian.' The entire passage is Romans 12:9-21, I am starting with verses 9 and 10.
ReplyDelete'Let love be genuine. Abhor evil, hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.' Romans 12:9-10 (ESV)
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”

I have been praying this verse for the women attending a lecture I gave at our women's Bible study yesterday. It was on Saul's conversion - he was going "his way" to persecute followers of "The Way".
ReplyDelete"Restore to me the joy of my salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will turn back to You." Psalm 51:12-13
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
ReplyDeleteReminds me of how important prepositions and verb tenses are in our theology!
ReplyDeleteEph 4:30, "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."
Still working on this one...
ReplyDelete“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
Philippians 2:3-4 ESV
