Verse 16

Ephesians 2:10  NIV
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

A friend recently wrote a blog post containing this verse.  She used a translation that used the word "masterpiece" instead of "workmanship".  It really stuck out to me that God made me with intention and purpose.  I'm not just another human on the assembly line of creation, but I'm one of His masterpieces, and he has good works ready and waiting for me (and you, too!).

  1. I have loved this verse since I was a teenager, but never taken the time to memorize it word for word, so hopefully now I will!

"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26 (ESV)

  4. Continuing to work on this...
“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”

  7. Continuing my Ephesians 1 passage:
"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the Word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit," Ephesians 1:13

  8. Forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell. Nehemiah 9:21 (ESV). I find this a good reminder in a world of 'want, want, want' and 'you deserve it' that God provides for us what we need most. He did this for Isreal when they were complaining, grumbling, and turning from him. We are abundantly blessed.

  10. I don't think I posted last time either...bah!

I've been working on Psalm 1:1-6 this month.

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
