Thanks for those of you who pick great verses... I saw this last time and I think it is a great verse to memorize:) "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through the fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you" Isaiah 43:2 ESV
Psalm 121:1-4 I lift my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
I am studying the fruits of the spirit this summer with a group of friends. This week is peace. I am realizing I really struggle with this fruit. So my verse for the first part of July is:
"...in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 ESV)
Job 4:5-6 But now trouble comes to you, and you are discouraged; it strikes you, and you are dismayed. Should not your piety be your confidence and your blameless ways your hope? (Job 4:5-6 NIV)
A break from my Ephesians passage as I am studying Galatians this summer with a bunch of women and we are memorizing verses from there. I need to say this one to myself every single day:
"Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ." Galatians 1:10 NIV
Psalm 91: 1&2 "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow fo the Almighty. I will say to the Lord: my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom i trust."
The women's Bible study at our church this summer is Beth Moore's study of James. Beth makes the challenge to memorize the book of James. I'm not going to try that -- the 2 verses a month is enough challenge for me. But I will choose some verses from James.
James 1:19b-20 Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of men does not produce the righteousness of God. (ESV)
Ephesians 4: (15) and 16: Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Gretchen, I chose the same verse! I'm studying peace with Kelly this week as well, and I wanted to focus on a verse about hope.
