Sorry I'm a little late today! I bet you were all sitting at your computers, tapping your fingers, waiting for me - weren't you? I'm glad I waited until after church today to post though, because I'm going to use a verse from the sermon.
Last summer I had the privilege of hearing Pastor Mark Sallade preach. In his sermon he said something along the lines of "talk to yourself instead of listening to yourself". It was a good lesson to me to speak truth to myself instead of listening to negative self-talk. Our pastor today brought up the same point and used Psalm 42:5 as an example where the psalmist had to preach to myself. So that's going to be my verse this time.
Psalm 42:5 NIV
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Psalm139: 23 & 24
ReplyDelete" Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me & know my thoughts!"
"And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
Want to focus on something to help me prepare for Easter...
ReplyDelete"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" (1 Peter 1:3, NIV).
I didn't do so well with my memorization the beginning of this month (I'm sure that being on vacation in Hawaii had something to do with it). But since I had selected 2 verses then, I'm going to work on the same 2 verses this time.
ReplyDelete"And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful" Col 3:14-15, NIV

Psalm 42:1-2 (ESV)
"I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry" Psalm 40:1 (ESV)
ReplyDeleteJohn 10:10 has been popping up in different ways in my life this last week. So I am going to use this verse for the second half of March. It says...
ReplyDelete"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."
Wow kelly and I have the same verse!
ReplyDelete"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy, I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly". John 10:10
"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously" 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NIV)
ReplyDeletedo not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:6-9 ESV)

ReplyDeleteBut he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will bost all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power if Christ may rest upon me.
